What is a "death companion"?

A Death or Grief Companion is an individual who walks with another through their grief.

Is a death companion a therapist?

No. A death companion is not a licensed therapist or counselor. A death companion doesn’t need to have a medical degree. A death companion’s greatest gift are empathy and compassion.

What is the difference between a death companion and an End of Life Doula?

A death companion journeys with an individual through their grief. This grief can take place after a physical death or a grief from the death of a dream or idea. An End of Life Doula (EOLD) is an person who advocates for and works with an individual who is actively dying and/or close caregivers (family/friends).

Is an EOLD a hospice employee?
